What We Were Building All Along
The Group began with one-night parties, relaxed dinners, and weekends away, but those experiences were only the beginning. What emerged was a private community built through trust, friendship, and time.
For many people, the first encounter with The Group now happens around a dinner table. A conversation begins, strangers become acquaintances, and an evening that appeared to be a single event becomes the first step in a much longer journey.
Others discover us at a party, or through an existing member while spending a weekend away. The setting may change, but the purpose remains the same. We create opportunities for people to meet naturally, spend meaningful time together, and discover whether friendship and trust can develop.
For years, those events were the most visible expression of The Group. Behind them, however, something far more enduring was taking shape.
People who met at dinner began traveling together. Couples who arrived knowing no one found friendships that extended far beyond a single evening. Members celebrated milestones, supported one another, and welcomed new people into a culture built around discretion, kindness, consent, and mutual respect.
The events brought people together, but the relationships became The Group.
A More Human Way to Build Community
The modern world makes introductions remarkably easy. Within moments, technology can present hundreds of profiles and countless opportunities to connect, but an introduction is not the same thing as a relationship.
Trust develops when people share a table, spend time together, and discover how someone treats others. It grows through consistency, generosity, maturity, discretion, and care.
This is why The Group grows slowly and why membership cannot simply be purchased. By our estimate, we have broken bread with more than 10,000 people since our dinner program began. For every Full Member today, more than ten applicants were not invited to participate in the community.
We do not share that figure as a badge of status. We share it because it reflects the care required to preserve a private community and the responsibility we accept when welcoming someone into it.
We are not searching for a particular profession, background, or social standing. We look for people who demonstrate kindness, discretion, maturity, curiosity, respect for consent, and genuine consideration for others.
The question is not whether someone can gain entry. The question is whether their presence will make the community stronger.
Selectivity and hospitality are not opposites. Thoughtful selectivity is one of the things that allows sincere hospitality to flourish.
Membership as a Journey
Every relationship with The Group begins through an invitation and a shared experience. Many people first join us at The Table, while others begin at Jackets Required, Stiletto Social, or through an introduction from an existing Full Member.
Those invited to continue may become Provisional Members. This stage gives relationships time to form naturally and allows both the individual and the community to determine whether the connection feels right.
A multi day experience provides the final opportunity for those relationships to deepen before Full Membership is considered. The Full Members who share that experience help decide whether welcoming someone permanently would strengthen the community.
There is no universal schedule for forming a genuine relationship, but there is a clear path for those who wish to continue. Membership develops through presence, trust, shared experience, and community consent.
That journey is not designed to create unnecessary barriers. It exists because the character of a private community is shaped by every person welcomed into it.
Technology That Follows Trust
On October 1, 2026, we expect to introduce the next generation of The Group App. It will allow Full Members to connect throughout the community, including with other Full Members they have not yet had an opportunity to meet.
This expanded ability is possible because Full Membership carries a shared foundation. Each Full Member has spent meaningful time within the community and demonstrated an understanding of the culture they are being trusted to enter.
The App will also give members greater control over their connections. Members will be able to limit contact quietly when they wish to create distance, while a separate reporting feature will provide a direct way to bring safety, consent, harassment, confidentiality, or conduct concerns to management.
The App can facilitate an introduction, help maintain a friendship, and make participation easier. It will never replace the human experiences upon which the community was built.
Technology should follow trust. It should never attempt to manufacture it.
Returning the Focus to the Experience
The new App will no longer display event guest lists. This feature was introduced with good intentions, but over time we watched it change the way people made decisions.
When attendance was confidential, members registered because an experience interested them and because they trusted us to welcome the right people into the room. Events regularly reached capacity, and waiting lists often extended into the dozens.
Once guest lists became visible, some members began waiting to see who else planned to attend. When many people waited at the same time, attendance appeared low until the final days and weeks, often after room blocks had been released and important planning decisions had already been made.
Removing the guest list allows the experience itself to return to the center of the decision. Members will continue to receive the location, venue, theme, atmosphere, dress, schedule, and character of each gathering. What they will not receive is an invitation to judge the value of the experience according to the names already on the list.
We ask members to trust that every room has been curated with the same care that was extended to them.
Encouraging Participation
Beginning in January 2027, Provisional and Full Members will maintain an annual membership contribution. Every dollar will be returned as a credit toward eligible dinners, parties, multi day experiences, or visits to The Resort during the same calendar year.
Our purpose is not to collect dues simply for access to the community. We want the contribution to encourage members to participate, gather, and continue investing in the relationships that make The Group meaningful.
A private community remains vibrant when people show up for one another. Participation is not measured only through messages or profiles, but through the willingness to share a table, attend an experience, and remain present in the life of the community.
Complete membership timelines, contribution amounts, cancellation terms, confidentiality expectations, and community standards will be available through our Rules and Policies page.
A Community That Gathers
As our messaging evolves, we are becoming more direct about what The Group is. We are not an event company with a community hidden behind it. We are a private community whose members periodically gather for dinners, parties, weekends, and visits to our member owned resort.
We will continue to grow carefully because growth alone has never been our measure of success. The strength of The Group is found in the quality of its relationships, the trust members place in one another, and the way people feel when they enter a room filled with individuals who understand the meaning of hospitality.
Beautiful destinations and exceptional experiences will always be part of our story, but they are not its heart. The heart of The Group is the people who show up with curiosity, generosity, discretion, and care.
For those seeking more than another event, the journey begins with a request for an invitation and a willingness to be known. For the right people, it may become something increasingly rare: a community in which they can genuinely belong.
