How The Resort Is Elevating Luxury Through Environmental Stewardship.

At The Resort, sustainability is not an afterthought. It’s a design principle. Our vision is rooted in a simple idea: that the most luxurious experiences are those that are not only beautifully executed but also thoughtfully considered. From solar energy and electric vehicles to curated local sourcing and plastic-free amenities, The Resort is reimagining luxury in a way that is elegant, responsible, and deeply connected to the land and culture of Jamaica.

We are proud to share that The Resort has formally set its sights on achieving Gold Status under Jamaica’s Green Business Jamaica (GBJ) Certification program, the country’s most rigorous benchmark for environmental excellence in the private sector. Much like the U.S. LEED certification, GBJ rewards real-world impact and measurable commitments, not marketing slogans.

For our members and their guests, this effort is not just about what we save, but it’s about what we elevate.

Green Transportation That Makes a Statement

The Resort is preparing to launch complimentary airport transfers in all-electric Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedans. This initiative doesn’t just reduce emissions, it raises the standard of arrival. Guests will glide from airport to oceanfront in near-silent comfort, wrapped in luxury and guided by conscience. It’s an unforgettable first impression that sets the tone for everything that follows: effortless, elegant, and future-focused.

Solar-Powered Comfort and Clean Water

Our sustainability roadmap includes the expansion of a comprehensive solar energy system across the property. These panels will not only reduce our carbon footprint but also directly power our reverse osmosis system, which is being installed to provide fresh, ultra-purified drinking water on site. The result? Crisp, clean, mineral-balanced water, served in recycled glass bottles in every suite, with zero need for shipping, plastic waste, or compromise.

We’re also expanding our solar hot water systems, so guests can enjoy warm showers and deep soaking tubs powered by the Jamaican sun itself. This isn’t just environmentally sound, it’s deeply luxurious.

Greywater Systems for Sustainable Beauty

Behind the scenes, The Resort is engineering a greywater reclamation system to treat and reuse water from guest showers and sinks for landscape irrigation. This initiative allows us to maintain lush gardens, flowering trees, and tropical pathways without putting added pressure on Jamaica’s water resources. The grounds remain lush and pristine, not in spite of our sustainability commitment, but because of it.

Sustainable In-Room Amenities

Guests will soon notice a shift in the small details throughout our suites and villas — ones that reflect big thinking. We are in the process of replacing plastic-packaged bath products and single-use coffee pods with refillable dispensers and sustainable coffee solutions that feel premium, not perfunctory.

These touches are designed to reduce waste and make every in-room interaction feel curated, intentional, and refined.

Farm-to-Table Sourcing That Tells a Story

As part of our sustainability transition, The Resort is deepening relationships with Jamaican farmers and local producers, bringing more homegrown ingredients to our menus. Guests will enjoy vibrant produce, hand-picked herbs, and small-batch products that reflect the island’s character, as well as fresher, more flavorful, and entirely traceable ingredients.

This isn’t just environmentally smart, it’s culinary storytelling at its most personal. When you taste a mango or pepper or lime at The Resort, it likely came from just down the road. That kind of connection enriches every bite.

On the Path to Gold

To achieve Gold Status under Jamaica’s Green Business Jamaica Certification Program, a property must earn 85 points across five key focus areas: environmental awareness, waste management, water efficiency, chemical management, and energy conservation. These aren’t theoretical goals.  They are measurable, trackable benchmarks that require investment and follow-through.

The Resort’s roadmap to GBJ Gold includes audits, internal training programs, infrastructure investments, and third-party verification. This is not a PR move.  It is a systems-level shift in how we operate.

Luxury Is a Value System

An axiom long held by The Resort’s founder is, “There is no correlation between class and cash.”

“There is no correlation between class and cash.”

That belief underpins our selective approach to Resort Membership, which begins with in-person vetting and is followed by community approval. We are not curating based on income.  We are curating based on character, shared values, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to an elevated community of professionals in open relationships.

That same philosophy applies to how we view sustainability.

“Being a conscientious traveler is a sign of respect, grace, and good manners.”

Being a conscientious traveler is a sign of resepct, grace, and good manners. It means understanding that your presence here should not degrade the community in which others live, nor take for granted the resources being brought to bear to ensure your stay is unforgettable. That mindset of care, responsibility, and awareness is part of what defines true refinement.

A Living Commitment

The journey to GBJ Gold isn’t a one-time initiative; it’s a living commitment. As each system comes online and each new standard is adopted, we’ll continue to share updates with our community.

Because at The Resort, sustainability isn’t the price of modern luxury — it’s the proof of it.
